QuickBeacon for OS X
With the QuickBeacon app you can turn any Macintosh computer that is running OS X® 10.9 Mavericks and is equipped with built-in or third party Bluetooth 4.0 into your own, fully-configurable proximity beacon.
Recent changes to OS X 10.10 Yosemite prevent proper operation of the QuickBeacon software. We regret being unable to provide you access to the capabilities of this software and are continuing to explore options to enable operation for OS X 10.10 Yosemite users.
QuickBeacon takes seconds to install and set up. It sits in your status bar and you can set it and forget it. No batteries to run down, and it goes wherever your Mac goes. Turn broadcasting on and off with a click, and quickly edit the identifiers.
To check if your MacIntosh computer is capable of running this software, select About This Mac under the menu.
- Verify that the version number of your operating system is 10.9.x
- Verify that you have Bluetooth 4.0 support by selecting System Report > Hardware > Bluetooth and checking that the LMP Version is 0x6.
If both of the above are true for your Macintosh computer, then you have all the minimum requirements to successfully run this software.
